The About Africa Nazarene University (ANU) School of Science and Technology

Dean’s Message

The school encompasses Computer Science and  Information Technology, Environmental Resource Management and Food, Nutrition and Health Sciences.
Our goal is to make the world a better place to live through education that is relevant in our times. Sustainable technologies that take into consideration the delicate elements our environment, so as to provide food to mankind, is a basic concern to right-thinking persons and this is precisely our mission. This mission motivates us, the community of the school of science and technology: the faculty and staff, students and alumni, partners and other stakeholders. Our mission inspires our learning, teaching, research and other related scholarly endeavors.
We are driven by the dreams of our founders and benefactors and the entire church of Nazarene to create a school that addresses itself to the needs of our community. We share the belief that every child deserves a high-quality education founded on good character and the capability to serve humanity with dignity and integrity, regardless of background or skin color, in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
While technology evolves and climate change continues to threaten through global warming, food security has become a major concern to the exploding world population. Humanity must embrace sustainable technologies to aid in the mitigation of the challenges. Local and global political ideologies, alignments, and declarations have not helped, but have impeded honest conversations and dialogues about the best ways to address and fix these human challenges.
The school theme areas are cyber-security, robotics, artificial intelligence, knowledge management, computational neuroscience in agriculture, and healthcare.
The right education is what is now needed to help change the current socio-economic and political cultures in order to address environmental issues. We shall disseminate research findings and create awareness by integrating knowledge into the curriculum, and directly to the community.
In addition to academic programs at the school, we offer short courses that directly equip learners with knowledge on modern technologies that spur innovation, environmental impact assessment, and foods and dietetics. We have partnered with IBM, Cisco, EMC to provide courses that provide hands-on skills that are relevant in the job market. In addition to the undergraduate programs in BSc. (computer science), BBIT, BSc. ERM, the school offers a Masters of Science in Environmental Resource Management (MSc. ERM) and a Masters of Science in Applied Information Technology (MSc. AIT) with the aim of expanding these courses and adding Ph.D. programs.
With the Wesleyan religious tradition of leadership, Africa Nazarene has provided character formation to learners for more than two decades.  With God’s and ANU’s management, we will ensure that what begins at ANU transforms the world.
Be blessed and don’t hesitate to visit our school or any of our departments so that, together, we can partner and learn to make our world a better place.
Remain blessed.
