KNEC PROGRAMMES
This department is designed to equip the trainee with relevant knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry out Aircraft Line Maintenance duties as an engineer.  The trainees are expected to acquire various skills pertaining to engineering such as Safety Procedures and Aircraft Maintenance.

The Options offered in this department are as follow;
1. Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (Telecommunication/Instrumentation)
2. Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. (Airframe/Power Plant option)

DIPLOMA IN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING (TELECOMMUNICATION/INSTRUMENTATION) AT ELDORET AVIATION TRAINING INSTITUTE

Course Outline
 General Objectives

By the end of this module the trainee should be able to:-

  1. Communicate effectively at the work place
  2. Appreciate the use of different modes and forms of communication
  3. Demonstrate entrepreneurial capability
  4. Observe general safety and procedures in the maintenance workshop and hangar
  5. Perform line maintenance work on aircraft.

MODULE I: AIRCRAFT MECHANIC


 
 

DIPLOMA IN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING (AIRFRAMES/POWER PLANT OPTION)

Course Outline
General Objectives

By the end of this module the trainee should be able to:-

  1. Understand the working principle of aircraft engineering systems
  2. Apply acquired knowledge and skills in the operation, care and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment while in the working in the hanger
  3. Manage and aeronautical engineering workshop
  4. Demonstrate competence in safe guarding international protocols and conventions relevant to aircraft operations, aircraft safety precautions and procedures during ground and flight operations
  5. Observe the international civil aviation organization (ICAO) requirements and subsequent amendments in airline operations
  6. Demonstrate knowledge In aircraft construction

KCSE mean grade C- (Minus) and above
Assessment
The programme is continuously assessed with Institute‟s final exams and external KNEC, and /or KCAA.
