DIPLOMA IN CIVIL ENGINEERING

This Diploma programme aims at producing Civil
Engineering Technicians. Civil Engineering profession
is one of the core disciplines within engineering that
deals with the structural infrastructure urgently needed
for development agenda in the 2030 millennium goals.
Civil Engineering graduates will find career
opportunities in both the public and private sectors that
engage in structural infrastructure.
Civil engineering graduates will deal with the design,
construction and maintenance of civil works such as
super highways, bridges, airfields, harbors, railway
network systems, water conveyance and retaining
structures (dams), hydropower generation plants,
building structural work, hydraulic structures, and substructural
works. Amongst other responsibilities the
Diploma Civil Engineering graduate will be charged
with other field responsibilities such as supervision and
management of ongoing civil engineering projects as
clerk of works.
The Department offers courses that are well structured
to meet the ever-changing challenges demands of the
civil engineering and construction industry at Diploma
level.
THE MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL DIPLOMA ENGEERING PROGRAMMES
• Mean Grade: KCSE C + and grades C in English & C+ in Mathematics and C in Physics & Chemistry or
Biology.
• Mean Grade: KCSE C + and grades C in English & C+ in Mathematics & C in Physical Science and
Biology.
• Or Division II in KCE with Pass in English and Credit in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry Or Credit
in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.
• Or KNEC Certificate with C (Plain) overall KCSE and minimum Credit pass in either Civil Engineering
or Building and civil Engineering or Building Construction or Water Engineering or Engineering Survey
or Agricultural Engineering and Architecture certificate..
• Or the equivalent qualification approved by the University Senate
Course Duration
2 ½ years (6 Semesters+ Attachment) [ Full Time] Or Day
Fees Structure
Ksh. 65,000 per semester
