What are the entry requirments for the NFPA fireman 1 training course
The minimum grade is a D+ KCSE Grade. But we can also consider past experience through interviews.

When does ICT Fire and Rescue hold intakes
ICT Fire and Rescue have different intakes several times a year. email us @ training@ictfire.com to get a copy of the application form.

How tall do you need to be to become a firefighter?
There is no minimum or maximum height within the fire and rescue service. However, you will need to undertake a series of theory and practical tests which will involve written exams and practical test like removing a ladder from a fire appliance. These task will need to be achieved in order to move on to the next stage of the recruitment process.

How fit do you have to be to become a firefighter?
Fitness is an important part of being a firefighter. To help with your fitness we have a dedicated fitness program which will help you achieve the required level needed through out the course.
Do ICT Fire and Rescue Services accept applications from females?
ICT fire and rescue service continues its drive towards greater equality and diversity among its people to reflect the communities they serve. Therefore applications will be accepted from anyone regardless of their background.

What qualifications do I need to become a firefighter?
No formal qualifications are required to become a firefighter. The minimum grade is a D+ KCSE Grade. But we can also consider past experience through interviews.
Any qualifications you may have will help with future promotion.
What jobs are available within the Fire Service?
There are many careers within the NGO,s sector and in Security companies or in companies such as at Tullow Oil or in County Governments fire and rescue departments.
This course gives you an international qualification which will help you apply for jobs internationally few of our students have found well paying jobs internationally.

How long does the course take
Firefighter training is intensive and the initial period takes around 12-18 weeks to complete. It is usually held at a specially equipped training centre where you will be taught basic firefighting skills such as ladder safety, hose laying and how to use breathing apparatus. Training also involves learning about fire safety and the importance of getting the fire safety message across to the local community.

Can I do work experience at my local fire station or at ICT Fire & Rescue
You will certainly be allowed to volunteer and travel in our fire appliance or attend incidents that we are called. It is possible to be placed at a local fire station as a volunteer. However we also recommend that you write to your local fire and rescue service direct to see if this is something they offer.

I want to be an an Airport Firefighter?
The course that we offer will equip you with the skills needed to be a fire fighter in all areas. from there you can then specialise in your careers field of fire fighting or train as an EMT.
Anyone seeking employment within the Airport Fire Service will need to apply directly to them or keep an eye on Airport web sites in the hope that job opportunities come up.

ICT Fire & Rescue College is located in Thika 7km from Thika along Garissa Rd

Do you have other training Locations
Currently all our training take place in house at our College located in Thika 7km from Thika along Garissa Rd.

We do offer other courses outside our college premises like fire marshal training fire safety awareness
first aid training and mush more these courses last for 1-4 days depending on the number of trainee and the level of study.
