1. CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT (CAFM)
Why study Certificate in Accounting Finance and Management?
Certificate in Accounting Finance and Management (CAFM) is a program with courses that provide fundamental skills and knowledge in accounting and finance and basics of managements in all organizations. All courses in the program have been selected to give very basic coverage of the functional areas of accounting, finance and management.
What is the programme designed for?
The program was designed to meet the demand of people already at work and those who do not have work experience in management and accounting or government or private sector employment who wish to develop and acquire skills and knowledge in the functional areas of Accounting, Finance and management. It is designed to give students sufficient entrepreneurial skills to initiate and manage their own small businesses.

What profession will the student be after graduating?

Students will be able to start and manage micro enterprises using professional good practices and get a foundation for progression to higher level of education in accounting and financial management.

Programme Duration and Stucture

The Certificate programme shall be offered in one academic year divided into two semesters will compromise of six course units. One unit shall be defined as a series of 42 one hour lectures. For this purpose a one hour lecture is equivalent to two hour tutorial or three hour practical session or a three hour practical session or an equivalent amount of other assigned study or practical experience or any combination of these that may be approved by the School for Human Resources Development. Download course units
2. CERTIFICATE OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (CBM)
Why study Certificate of Business Management?
Certificate in Business Management provide courses in basic business skills and knowledge in the two semester program. The courses were selected to give basic coverage of the functional areas of business and management.
What is the programme designed for?
The program has also been designed to meet the need of people with no work experience in business or in government or private sector employment who wish to develop their skills functional areas of business management.
What profession will the student be after graduating?
Progression to higher levels of education in business management and be able to apply and develop basic skills and knowledge in business management.

3. CERTIFICATE IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (CICT) 
Why study Certificate in Information and Communication Technology?
The certificate programme in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is intended to introduce students with a wide range of technical and technological skills required by industry at certificate level.

What is the programme designed for?

The course is intended to produce personnel who can deal with routine IT related tasks and will be able to progress academically to higher levels of education into relevant diploma courses.
What profession will the student be after graduating?
To deal with routine IT related tasks especially data entry, data processing, software and hardware basics, simple programming, simple desktop publishing, internet and web basics.
Duration and Pattern of the Course
The course shall extend over a period of TWO academic semesters organised in one academic year. One academic semester is 16 weeks long; 14 weeks for classes and 2 weeks for examinations. Each semester consists of five (5) units of thirty-five (42) lecture hours. For this purpose, one lecture hour is defined as the equivalent of two (2) one-hour tutorial sessions or three (3) laboratory hours. .

4. CERTIFICATE IN PURCHASING AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT (CPIM)

Why study Certificate of Purchasing and Inventory Management?
Purchasing and Iventory Management has been recognized as separate and important functions in most organizations. Materials procurement and related issues should be done by skilled manpower to avoid delay and ensure efficiency in operations.
What is the programme designed for?
The main purpose for certificate of purchasing and inventory management is to create manpower with knowledge and skills required in effective and efficient purchasing and inventory management for performance improvement in and entrepreneurial manner. The program is designed to meet current demand of people, who are working in various organizations, government and other private institutions as well as those wishing to start taking up this career.

What profession will the student be after graduating?

To start a carrier in purchasing and inventory management and those already working in the relevant department and wish to develop themselves in this carrier. Serves as a prerequisite to enter diploma programs at JKUAT Arusha Centre

5. CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ENGLISH (CCSE)
Why study Certificate in Communication Skills in English?
The overall aim of offering a certificate in communication skills in English is to impart Basic English skills in writing, speaking and reading. Emphasis is based on improving interpersonal interaction.

What is the programme designed for?
This program is designed to help learners improve their communication skills at work places. This course will introduce students to English vocabulary, reading comprehension, presentation skills, public speaking as well as Business communication among other topics.

Entry Requirements for Certificte Programmes
i. Form four with at least four passes (D) including Mathematics and English for CBMCPIMCAFMand CIT.
ii. Form four with at least four passes including English/Kiswahili for CCSE
