The course boasts of an equiped workshop and well qualified lecturers mostly holders of degees and or higher national diploma. The course is also currently the centre of excellence in North Rift Region. The course commences every September and takes a minimum of three years inclusive of two – three months field attachments .
HISTORY
Mechanical engineering has been offered in Kaiboi both during the days when the institute was a technical high school to date.
SECTIONS

Kaiboi Technical Training Institute School Of Mechanical Engineering Courses Offered

1. PRODUCTION ENGINEERING
This course is offered at craft level currently. It boasts of well equiped workshop to enhance training of well qualified technicians in production field. The workshop is manned by a qualified technician.
The production option is taught by qualified lecturers having qualifications upto degree level. This section admits its students on May of every year. The course takes two years inclusive of atleast three months of industrial attachment.
2. PLANT ENGINEERING
The plant option is offered at the level of diploma only. To qualify for this course a student requires to have attained a minimum of C- (minus) at O – levels with good grades in maths and physics or to have successfully passed craft certificate level in plant or production at Kaiboi technical or any other recognised institution.

MANAGEMENT
The mechanical engineering department is headed by a head of department (HOD) assisted by heads of sections (HOS) at the different sections mentioned above.
