Kenya Institute of Management Examinations 2022 | Details Of Ongoing Examinations at Kenya Institute of Management (KIM)

The authority of KIM to offer exams is provided for by legal notice number 375 of 2002.The KIM exams department is responsible for the administration of KIM exams countrywide. At the moment KIM exams are done in twenty seven outlets countrywide. KIM graduates have proceeded for further studies in Institutions of higher learning both locally and abroad.
The core functions of the department include:

  1. Setting and moderation of exams
  2. Printing and Administration of exams
  3. Exam timetabling`
  4. Marking and declaration of results
  5. Certification
  6. Organizing graduation ceremony

The exams department endeavors to uphold the following core values:

  1. High standards in the entire process of examining candidates
  2. Establishing and maintaining cordial working links with the other examining bodies
  3. Being responsive to students’ needs
  4. Strengthening professional linkages with tertiary institutions in Kenya and beyond

Examination Approach

KIM exams lay emphasis on CAT, WBA, and end of semester exams

  • Continuous Assessment tests (CATS) constitutes 15% of the final scores
  • Work-Based Assignment (WBA) constitutes 15% of the final score.
  • Each student must submit both WBA and CAT in each subject during the course of the semester.
  • End of Semester exams carry 70% of the final score.
  • Diploma students are expected to carry out a research project prior to graduation.
  • Students are examined in the following courses
  • Kim examinations are set and moderated by a panel of professionals and practitioners in their respective fields.
  • Examination Timetables are released one month prior to exams

Grading System

The grading system in each course subject shall be as follows:

80 and above A Distinction
65-79 B Upper Credit
50-64 C Credit
49-40 D Pass
0-39 E Fail
