About Kenya Medical Training College Kombewa Campus

Overview
KMTC Kombewa campus was established in September 2016 as an initiative of the Community, the Kisumu County Government and KMTC. The campus is located in Seme Constituency in Kisumu County. It is approximately 28Km from Kisumu town towards Bondo.
The campus was established in response to community demand as well as in fulfilment of KMTC’s mandate of expanding training facilities in its support of the Government’s role to ensure quality health services for all Kenyans.
As a result of this a unique partnership has continued to flourish between the management and local community, resulting in the construction of some of the best infrastructure for student accommodation and training facilities.
The partnership has further created a secure and conducive environment for learning and extra curriculum activities

Kenya Medical Training College Kombewa Campus Courses Offered

Courses Offered
The campus currently offers Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences. This decision was informed by the close proximity to Walter Reed Army Institute of Medical Research (WRP) which works in collaboration with Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). This institution has been instrumental in supporting students in their course.
Future Plans
Diplomas in health promotion and Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) and certificate in Health records and information have been proposed for the campus to take advantage of the good infrastructure and social environment.

The campus has the following facilities:

Clubs and societies
The campus management encourages extra curriculum activities and has put in place measures to ensure that students can engage in sports. Provision of sport facilities for volleyball, football and indoor games such as badminton and draught are in place, and we continue to direct more resources towards ensuring students have recreational facilities.
Students are allowed to form and carry out welfare activities such as student representative council (SRC), religious activities of their choice and clubs. The leadership of SRC in consultation with the management ensures that quality environment is provided to student to support their learning and living conditions. Groups such as the seventh day Adventist, the presidential award scheme have emerged and many more have been proposed by students.
