About KEWI Kisumu Campus

KEWI Kisumu Campus; is the fourth campus to be established after Nairobi, Chiakariga and Kitui. This campus was established on Sept 6, 2012. It is located at USK in Kibos, 8 kilometers from  Kisumu town. Initially it was meant for Homa Hills in Homa Bay county. This  campus is strategically placed almost at the centre of East Africa.  It is close to the largest fresh water lake in Africa; Lake Victoria and major rivers flowing into the same lake. It is close to 3 of the major water towers in Kenya i.e. Mau Forest Complex, Mount Elgon and Cherangany Hills . These platforms provide a lot of potential especially in water research and waste water management. A new syllabus for Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Pipe Fitting has been developed and rolled out.
The campus has a facility that can host a research centre in relation to water sector. For instance, it has a 20 acre piece of land in Miwani which can be used as a research centre.  In Kisumu, numerous floods, water borne diseases such as cholera, and droughts are among the common phenomena. This is an opportunity for KEWI Kisumu Campus to participate in addressing the issues through research in the water sector.  The 20 acre piece of land can be developed to host international research centre where research activities can be conducted by all stakeholders in the water sector.
