CSD 100: CERTIFICATE IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (KNEC)
This is a one and half year course, whose objective is to equip Social Development work trainees with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and experiences that, will enable them to participate effectively in the implementation of National social development policies.
UNITS
The following modules/units will be covered; History and Government of Kenya
MODULE 1
CSD 1801: Communication Skills.
CSD 1802: Information Communication Technology
CSD 1803: History and Government.
CSD1804: Social Development Work, Theory and Methods
CSD 1805: Social Research Methods.
CSD 1806: Social policy and Administration.
CSD 1807: Project Development and Management.
MODULE 2
CSD 1808: Human Growth and Development.
CSD 1809: Sociology.
CSD 1810: Law in Social Development.
CSD 1811: Kiswahili.
CSD 1812: Management and Administration.
CSD 1813: Community Health.
CSD 1814: Economics.
CSD 1815: Field practicum/Report.
The duration for the course is one and half years which includes compulsory industrial attachment.
Career /Employment Opportunities: Community workers in Government, Non –Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organization, Instructors in Vocational Training Centers.
Progression Paths: Diploma in Social Work and Community Development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum qualifications are KCSE D plain or KCE Div. 3 OR
- Pass in relevant Artisan course
- An Equivalent qualification approved by KNEC
- Course open to Beginners, Community development workers, Welfare officers and
Fresh students
