About KMTC Department of Nursing

The Kenya Medical Training College School of Nursing is a place where exceptional people discover possibilities that forever change their lives and the world. With close to a century of established excellence in training of nursing, the School of Nursing is both connected to the past and focused on the future.
Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses (KRCHNs) belong to one of the fastest growing occupations in Kenya and the region. The shortage of nursing in the country and in the region has played key roles in the high demand for qualified registered nurses. Realize your potential to make a lasting difference in nursing. In the KMTC School of Nursing you’ll advance your career on your terms. Gain real-world skills you can apply immediately, while learning from nationally recognized experts at the school.
The School of Nursing offers programs designed to fit the needs of a diverse student population. We have graduated students who are currently working in all the corners of the globe, changing the science and art of nursing.
Provision of Nursing education at this faculty dates as far back as 1927 when the first group of medical assistants was recruited for training in Kenya. This cadre was trained to provide both nursing and clinical services.
From this early beginning, nursing education has continued to progress and make a remarkable difference in the country’s health sector. In January 1952, the first group of Kenya Registered Nurses commenced here.
The need to serve at community level made the school to start training of Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses in 1987. Today, the faculty is a hub for training nurses for national and international market.
Our advanced courses are intended to advance the quality of life not just for the KMTC graduate, but for everyone he or she encounters. Be it in reproductive health, mental health, community nutrition, in charitable service or friendship, to make a difference in any life is to serve the greater good.
