About KMTC Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine
Kenya Medical Training College the leading middle level health training institution offers training opportunities in the Department of Orthopaedic & Trauma Medicine at three levels; Certificate in Orthopaedic Plaster Technology, Pre service and Upgrading Diploma in Orthopaedic & Trauma Medicine. The Certificate course takes a duration of two years, pre service Diploma three years and upgrading course two years.
Minimum entry requirements certificate; mean aggregate C- with C- in Biology/Biological, sciences, English or Kiswahili, D+ in any of the following Mathematics, Physics, Physical Science, Chemistry, computer studies, Agriculture, Home science. Diploma; Mean aggregate C with C in English or Kiswahili and Biology plus Physics/Physical science or Mathematics, C- in any of the following Physics/Physical science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Home science, Agriculture
These cadre are trained to treat injuries of bones and soft tissue using non operative approaches. After graduating the professionals will work hand in hand with Orthopaedic surgeons, General surgeons, Medical Officers, Orthopaedic Clinical officers and other health workers in hospitals and community in general.
The programmes are conducted by highly trained professionals with vast experience to ensure the students get the best by embracing quality as a tradition of the college in line with quality management system. The college is committed to producing competent Orthopaedic Trauma Personnel for the community in line with the social pillar of the vision 2030 and the current constitution. The existing Plaster Technicians will also have an opportunity to upgrade the level of their qualifications from certificate to Diploma.
In view of increasing motor vehicle, motor cycle, industrial accidents in addition to sport injuries in our set up that leads to serious disability and death our departmental mission is to restore health and inspire confidence and trust to our clients.
