Agricultural and Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest scientific directions known and studied by a man. The laws of mechanics can explain patterns of most technique functioning and agricultural processes (from plowing and threshing). They enable to create machines, to optimize their work, to cut down energetic costs of the processes, to reduce friction and wear losses. This course is for the people who want to gain knowledge of the mechanics, agricultural constructions, projecting, production, use and service, technological
processes of agricultural production – focusing on; Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Extension in Agricultural Education.
There are three major areas of study

GENERAL AGRICULTURE

The diploma in agriculture is developed to provide the trainee with knowledge and practical skills that will enable the trainee to engage in employment for sustainable
Agricultural Enterprises. The trainee will also be prepared for formal employment sector and be able to produce process and market agricultural products for a satisfying living.
The course is also intended to lay a foundation for further studies in agriculture. The syllabus has been developed on a competency based modular approach in the spirit that trainees shall not be required to remain continuously at an institution throughout the course; through a credit transfer system, individual trainee shall be required to choose their own point of exit and re-entry to the course depending on the needs and qualifications .
The course as a whole consists of three modules inclusive of field attachment. Each module is made up of a group of subjects forming a complete learning package.
AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING
The diploma in agricultural engineering is actually the agricultural power and machinery option .it is designed to meet the middle level man power of the agricultural engineering support for the development and use of appropriate machinery power and structures in agriculture.
The course aims at providing the trainee with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field of agricultural engineering so that they are technically qualified and are capable of dealing with day-to-day problems which confront the farmers in the field with respect to:-
I. Adoption and innovation and agricultural machinery, post harvest processes and structures.
II. Development, operation and maintenance of agricultural machines
III. Development and management of post harvest processes equipment and structures.
AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
The diploma in automotive engineering course is designed to meet the middle cadre manpower required for motor industry.
The course aims at providing the trainee with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to make them qualified and capable dealing with problems arising in the workshop in relation to:-
• Serving of motor vehicles
• Repair of motor vehicles
• Organization and management of motor vehicle workshops
