- Increase Performance in National Exams from 88% to 100% by the end December,2018.
- Increase percentage age number of credits from current 57 to 70% by the end December,2018
Departmental Background Information
The Department of Liberal Studies was established in 2000, initially to coordinate the teaching of service subjects Viz Kiswahili, English, Communications skills Social studies and Entrepreneurship Education.
In 2007 we introduced a Diploma Course in social work and Community Development at our Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology Main Campus. We also offer a Certificate course in Social work at our SIST Town Campus.
The Department has eight well trained, Motivated and results-oriented Lecturers, responsible for the sterling performance witnessed in the Department. The Department has a student enrolment of 100 %( Inclusive of those at Town Campus) with around 70% being female and 30% male. The students are annually exposed to real work situations through field and academic tours thus preparing them for the job market.

There are two lecturers with M.A Degrees, one still pursuing a master. We look forward to other members within the Department advancing in their areas of specialization.
