Admission Process

  • Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Programmes

Intakes are normally advertised by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and NIT. Interested students may apply directly to the NIT centre. Students can collect admission forms from Nairobi Institute of Technology, Westlands.

Application fee for JKUAT Diploma in Architecture is KShs. 1,000.00. The dully filled in form should be returned to the institute with 3 passport sized colour photos as well as copies of certificates. Accepted students will be informed by mail and telephone numbers they indicate in their application forms. Selection of successful students is done at the university.

Forms from Nairobi Institute of Technology, Westlands can be collected at a fee of KShs. 500. The duly filled in form should be returned to the institute with 2 passport sized colour photos as well as copies of certificates. Intakes take place three times a year, and are normally advertised in the main newspapers.

  • Short Course Programmes

General Rules Regarding Short Courses

a) Short Courses are offered on flexible hours basis to the convenience of NIT, the tutor and the student
b) Classes may commence at any time subject to minimum class size
c) To be considered for admission the prospective student should have:

i) Passed Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or
ii) Equivalent qualifications (including credit transfers) as shall be determined by N.I.T.
iii) Specific prerequisites may apply for different courses

d) Prospective students should pay for and fill in the NIT application form and attach relevant documents.
e) Admitted students shall be given an admission letter.
f) All fees shall be paid before teaching commences.
g) Where training is to be done on location other than at NIT, the fees and tutor payments shall be increased by 50%
h) Students should sign on an NIT Short Course Form kept by the tutor after every class session.
i) NIT Short Course Form shall be used as evidence of class attendance for award of a certificate.
j) Students are expected to adhere to NIT rules and regulations as published from time to time.

PAYMENT OF FEES:

a) A MINIMUM OF 50 PER CENT of fees should be paid on or before the reporting date of every new semester/term

b) All fees balances should be paid by the SIXTH WEEK of the semester/term

c) SHORT COURSES

i. Fees is paid in full before the commencement of class

ii. A 20 per cent penalty will be charged on any class cancelled before the commencement of such class

iii. There will be no refund of fees paid if classes are abandoned after commencement of such classes

d) A Kshs 3,000 service charge will be charged on all returned cheques.
