About KMTC Department of Medical Engineering
Medical Engineering training at KMTC dates back to 1978 when the Kenyan Government and Austrian Government collaborated to start an artisan training program at Loitokitok sub-district hospital. With such a long history behind us, you can be sure that at KMTC’s department of medical engineering, we know what we are doing and we will give you the best.
Owing to the need for quality technicians in the field of medical engineering, KMTC started an in-service diploma course in 2000 and established pre-service diploma at KMTC Eldoret in 2003. A higher diploma program was also initiated at Nairobi MTC in 2006, followed by a Pre-service diploma program in 2007. Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering Technology (Dialysis) was also introduced in 2017.
Medical engineering is a profession that deals in the installation, service and repair of medical equipment and hospital systems in hospitals and medical institutions.
It incorporates three main fields: mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering and electronics.
